Tea for Two

My friend Mary came for tea today. She came around 10:00 a.m. so we had brunch with our tea. I served scones, fruit salad and an omelet. My vintage dishes all have the same flower pattern even though they were all bought at different times. The demi teacup has a Hammersly backstamp.

It was nice to be able to pick flowers from my garden for the centerpiece.

My Kitchen

The kitchen cabinets were oak stained. I do not like that look so I painted them and then distressed the edges by sanding down to the wood tone.

My husband put up the open shelves for me. I did not want to put my dishes behind closed doors. I like looking at them!

My son gave me the Blue Willow tea set for Mother's day a few years back. I think that is when I decided I love blue dishes!

This teapot is called Memory Lane from Royal Albert. It is a beautiful teapot with dainty blue forget-me-nots flowers painted on it.

The purple cow was given to my by a neighbor about 50 years ago! I had always admired it when I was a little girl, so she gave it to me. The cow was already missing part of her horn and had some repairs from previous breaks. I'm not sure what was attached to the sides of the cow, maybe salt and pepper shakers. Anyway I still think she is cute and whimsical. The bunny was a gift from a friend from our church in Osawatomie, Kansas.

I found this lovely heart pomander or potpourri holder at an estate sale last Saturday. The heart is bone china with hand painted roses.

The heart has small holes on top and a place to add potpourri on the back.

Decorative Painting

I found this chair at a garage sale and added some decorative touches.

I painted a little bird on a rose branch.

Cabinet make over

I do not have a picture of my buffet before I painted it. I found this picture on the internet. This piece has the same drawer pulls and stain color that mine originally had.
I painted the cabinet in a sage green then using burnt umber paint I created a distressed look for the buffet. I also changed the drawer pulls.

Moonlight Rose by Royal Albert

I really like blue dishes and this rose pattern is beautiful. My husband gave me the cream and sugar and the cups for Valentine's day.
